Ring Sizing and Resizing

The short answer

What happens if your ring size is wrong, and how does resizing work?

Getting your ring size right matters, but a ring can sometimes need adjusting after it arrives. Every Amarii ring includes one complimentary resize within 6 months of the purchase date on your receipt, by up to 2 Australian sizes up or down. Full eternity rings cannot be resized. Other designs are assessed first.

What should you do if your Amarii ring does not fit?

Contact Amarii before having the ring altered elsewhere.

The ring needs to be assessed before resizing because the design, setting, stones and metal can affect whether it can safely be changed.

Once the ring has been assessed, we can confirm whether the requested size adjustment is suitable and explain the next steps.

How much can an Amarii ring be resized?

An Amarii ring can be resized by up to 2 Australian sizes up or down under the Amarii complimentary resize service.

The adjustment is measured using Australian letter sizing. The final size is confirmed before the resize is completed.

Some rings cannot safely be adjusted by the full 2 size range because of their construction. The suitability of the individual ring is assessed before work begins.

Is the first ring resize complimentary?

Yes. Amarii provides one complimentary resize for every Amarii ring, within 6 months of the purchase date on your receipt.

The complimentary resize applies once per ring and is subject to design suitability.

The customer is responsible for shipping the ring to Amarii and shipping it back after the resize.

Which rings cannot be resized?

Some ring designs have structural limitations that can restrict or prevent resizing.

Full eternity rings, with stones set all the way around the band, cannot be resized. Half eternity rings usually can, because the plain metal at the back gives room to adjust. Intricate designs, pavé settings, shared prong settings, alternative metal designs and gemstone heavy designs may have limits.

The number, position and construction of the stones can affect how the ring can be adjusted.

The ring is assessed before resizing so the structure can be protected.

Can a pavé engagement ring be resized?

A pavé engagement ring may be able to be resized, but it requires assessment first.

The small diamonds set around the band can make resizing more complex because changing the circumference can affect the stone settings.

The suitability depends on the individual ring design and the amount of adjustment required.

Can an eternity ring be resized?

A full eternity ring cannot be resized.

Its diamonds or gemstones run around the entire band, leaving no plain metal through which the ring can be adjusted, so the size needs to be right before it is made.

A half eternity ring usually can be resized, because the stones stop partway and the plain metal at the back can be adjusted.

What happens during a ring resize?

A ring resize changes the internal circumference of the ring so it fits a different finger size.

For a ring that needs to become larger, additional metal may be required depending on the amount of adjustment and the ring construction.

For a ring that needs to become smaller, part of the band can generally be removed before the ring is joined and finished again.

The exact method depends on the design, metal and construction of the ring.

What happens if I chose the wrong size?

A customer selected size can still be eligible for the Amarii complimentary resize service, provided the ring meets the eligibility requirements.

The resize must be requested within 6 months of the purchase date on your receipt and must be within 2 Australian sizes up or down.

The ring is assessed before work begins to confirm that the requested adjustment is suitable for its design.

What happens if the wrong size was supplied?

A ring supplied in a size different from the confirmed order specification is treated differently from a customer selecting the wrong size.

Amarii will assess the order and the ring supplied before determining the appropriate remedy.

The customer's Australian Consumer Law rights are not affected by the Amarii resize service.

How long does a ring resize take?

The time required depends on the ring design, the adjustment required and the production schedule.

The ring needs to be received and assessed before the work can be confirmed.

Amarii will provide the applicable timeframe once the ring has been assessed.

What does ring resizing cost after the complimentary resize?

A subsequent resize is charged.

The cost depends on the ring, metal, design, size adjustment and work required. The ring is assessed before a price is confirmed.

A second resize is not automatically included in the complimentary resize service.

Can a ring be resized more than once?

Yes, a ring may be resized more than once where its construction allows it.

Only the first resize within 6 months of purchase is complimentary. Additional resizing is quoted and charged separately.

Repeated resizing can be limited by the design and structure of the ring, so suitability is assessed each time.

How can you avoid needing a resize?

The best way to reduce the chance of needing a resize is to establish the correct size before production.

Amarii Fit provides several ways to determine an Australian ring size, including measuring an existing ring, measuring the finger and using a ring already worn on the intended finger.

Our Ring Size Guide explains these methods in detail.
