Ring Size Guide

The short answer

How do you find your ring size in Australia?

We make every ring in every Australian size from D to Z, including the half letters, which is US 2 to 12½ in quarter sizes. Measure the inside of a ring that already fits, or the circumference of the finger, and match it to the chart below. Every Amarii ring includes one free resize within six months of purchase, so a close estimate is enough to order with confidence.

Why does ring size matter so much?

Size is the one detail you cannot judge by eye. A half size is about 0.4 mm of inside diameter, and that is the difference between a ring that turns on the finger and one that will not pass the knuckle.

Four ways to find your size

From most accurate to most discreet.

01

Be measured

The most accurate way is a set of steel ring sizers on the finger itself. If you cannot get to a jeweller, ask us and we will help you find a size another way.

02

Measure a ring she already wears

Take a ring that fits the correct finger comfortably and measure straight across the inside, edge to edge, in millimetres. That is the inside diameter. Match it to the chart below.

Measure the inside, not the outside, and use a ring with a similar band width to the one you are ordering. A wide band sits tighter than a fine one on the same finger.

03

The paper strip method

Cut a strip of paper about 5mm wide. Wrap it around the base of the finger, snug but not tight, and mark where it overlaps. Lay it flat and measure the length in millimetres. That is the inside circumference.

Do not use string. It stretches, and a stretched measurement reads a full size too large.

04

Ask us

If you are unsure, get in touch and we will talk you through it before you order.

When should you measure?

Fingers change through the day. They are smallest in the morning and in the cold, and largest in the evening, in heat, and after exercise or salt.

Measure late in the day at normal room temperature, and take the reading two or three times. If you land between two sizes, take the larger one. A ring that is slightly loose can be worn. One that will not pass the knuckle cannot.

Every Amarii ring is available in each size above. If your measurement falls between two sizes, choose the larger. Australian letters vary slightly between jewellers, so the millimetre measurement is the one to trust.

How do you find her size in secret?

Borrow a ring she wears on the correct finger and measure the inside diameter, or press it into a bar of soap and measure the impression. Return it the same day.

Ask someone close to her. A sister or a best friend can usually find out in a single conversation without raising suspicion.

Or simply order and let us resize. Most proposal rings we make are ordered on an estimate, and the free resize exists for exactly this reason.

One free resize, within six months

Order on your best estimate. If it is not right when it arrives, we will resize it once at no cost within six months of purchase, by up to two sizes up or down. Full eternity rings cannot be resized, and some other settings have limits on how far they can be adjusted, so we will tell you before you order.

How resizing works

Frequently asked questions

What ring sizes does Amarii use?

Every Australian size from D to Z, including the half letters, which is US 2 to 12½ in quarter sizes. You can switch the size picker between Australian and US. The chart above gives each size in millimetres.

What if I am between two sizes?

Choose the larger size. A slightly loose ring can be worn, while one that will not pass the knuckle cannot.

Can I order without knowing her size?

Yes. Order on your best estimate. Every Amarii ring includes one free resize within six months of purchase, up to two sizes up or down.

Does band width change the size?

Yes. A wide band sits tighter than a fine one on the same finger, so measure a ring with a similar band width to the one you are ordering.
